David Orobosa Omoregie (born 5 June 1998), besides known equally Santan Dave or just Dave, is a British rapper, musician, vocalist, songwriter, record producer and actor.[1] [ii] [3] Dave has gained acclaim for his socially conscious lyricism and wordplay, and is amid the most recognised British rappers.[4]

Dave released his debut extended play Six Paths in 2016, after the release of a number of successful singles including the grime song "Thiago Silva" with AJ Tracey. In the aforementioned year, Canadian rapper Drake premiered a remix single of Dave'southward vocal "Wanna Know" featuring himself on OVO Sound Radio. Dave released his 2nd EP Game Over in 2017. In 2018, his political song "Question Time"—which directed criticism towards the British Government—won the Ivor Novello Laurels for Best Gimmicky Song. Early life [edit]

David Orobosa Omoregie[5] was built-in on five June 1998 in Angell Town in the Brixton surface area of S London, to Nigerian parents from the Edo ethnic grouping. His father, Frank Omoregie, a pastor and his mother, Juliet Doris Omoregie, a nurse.[6] He has ii older brothers, Benjamin who is eight years older than him and Christopher who is five years older.[7] Dave's begetter was deported to Nigeria when Dave was just a few months old every bit he believed he was travelling on a missionary visa but was actually on a visitor's visa. The track 'Samantha' with J Hus peaked at 63 on the Official Singles Chart, becoming the third biggest song to not nautical chart in the top 40 in 2017,[32] Dave also released the tracks 'Revenge', 'Tequila', and '100M's', the latter of which featured on Nike's 'Born Mercurial' advert in 2018.[33]

On 9 October 2017, Dave appear his second extended play, Game Over, alongside the proclamation of its accompanying bout.[34] The EP was preceded by the track 'Question Time'. Dave put out his kickoff single after the release of his Game Over EP with the rail 'Hangman' on 27 February 2018.[41] Then after a seven-month hiatus, Dave released 'Funky Friday', featuring rapper Fredo, on 4 October 2018. 2021–present: We're All Solitary in This Together [edit]

In January 2021 the track 'Money Talks' was released by Fredo, which Dave featured on and produced.[lx] The track debuted at number 3 on the Britain Singles Chart.[61] The song was a single off Fredo'due south album 'Money Tin't Purchase Happiness' which Dave executively produced under the name SANTAN.[62] [63]
